One of the great strengths (and I suppose, weaknesses) of Social Media is that when you say something it can spread very quickly, and it sticks around for a while. Clearly if you get what you say right this is a very good thing. If you get it wrong this can stick around to haunt you for a long, long time.
This is a link to an email sent by a former Google employee after his move to Facebook saying how his new company was “the one”, how it would “change people’s lives”, and how it was the “Next Google”. With hindsight it looks like he was right! However, the comments others have posted are without the benefit of hindsight, and highlight how wrong we often get it.
So, my point is, think before you write, as soon as you post something with your name on it it can’t be unposted, and everyone can see it, possibly forever.
