The thing about social media is that if you’re not careful you’ll end up saying “I wish I’d done that ages ago.”

With social media there are a few bits of hygiene that you should do. You should open an account on every single social media platform and personalise the URL to reflect your business name (my Facebook one is ) because you never know which one you’re going to need in the future.

Also, you should consider investing a little bit of time (and money) in getting them looking as professional as possible. Increasingly people are choosing social media platforms such as Facebook as their preferred places to browse. That’s great…but if they find you on there remember the old adage “you can only make a first impression once”…make sure that it’s the impression you want to leave people with.

Setting up a professional looking page and learning how to work it isn’t going to make you a social media guru, but it will ensure that you are maximising the inbound opportunities of people just running in to you by chance and it will probably only cost you a couple of hours of time with your social media consultant.
