As we approach the end of the year, I think that there’s much for us to reflect upon over the last 12 months.

Clearly the global recession has hit most businesses, some harder than others, but I think everyone has been effected one way or another. Whilst the recession has been at the top of most agendas, there has been perhaps a more fundamental shift that has happened this year, a shift in terms of how we interact with each other.

The growth of social media over the last 12 months has been nothing short of miraculous. Twitter has moved from niche to mainstream, and facebook has signed-up an average of a staggering 360,000 new users every single day.

This isn’t just because social media fashionable, it’s because it suits people. It fits in with their lifestyles. It works.

The last 12 months has seen social media become a viable communication tool for both business and personal use. It will be very interesting to see how the adoption of these grows over the next year.
