Today saw the passing of Steve Jobs. A visionary, a genius and a dreamer.
The internet is full of tributes from his fans, employees, partners and adversaries, who all said basically the same stuff he was a true genius in both business and vision, he was demanding and inspiring in equal measures and totally unflinching in his pursuit of perfection.
He created Apple, NeXT and Pixar and revolutionised computers, telephony, music and animation and his products have changed the way that we see and what we expect of technology.
Despite being the 138th richest person on the planet with an estimated wealth of $4.5bn he lived a surprisingly austere life in a modest house without fleets of cars, yatchs and planes that other IT gods seem to need. In fact he turned his back on most of the trappings of his huge wealth preferring a vegan lifestyle and to put that money to good work with sizeable (and anonymous) charitable donations and his ceaseless re-investment in Apple and the future.
He is a sad loss to the world.
